Q&A with this month’s #PlattProfile, Samantha Dittmar
Samantha is a 21-year-old student at Virginia Tech, where she is studying marketing management with a focus in professional sales and a minor in health communication. A four-year Service to Golf Scholar at Medford Lakes Country Club, Samantha enjoys building relationships with members and coworkers. She hopes to pursue a career in medical device sales after graduation in Spring 2028, with goals of traveling, achieving financial success, and building a life she loves.

Q: How old are you?
A: I am 21 years old.
Q: What school are you currently attending?
A: Virginia Tech.
Q: When do you graduate?
A: Spring 2028.
Q: What is your major?
A: Marketing management with a focus in professional sales and a minor in health communication.
Q: How did you decide on that major?
A: I like the business side of healthcare, and I’ve always been someone who enjoys talking to people and building relationships.
Q: Do you participate in any school activities or clubs?
A: I am a member of the sales club.
Q: Do you have any hobbies?
A: I really enjoy staying active and spending time with friends and family.
Q: Are you a Service to Golf Scholar or Caddie?
A: I am a service to golf scholar.
Q: What golf club do you caddie/work at?
A: Medford Lakes Country Club.
Q: How long have you been caddying/ working in STG there?
A: 4 years.
Q: How did you get into caddying/working in STG at the club?
A: The Sleepy Hollow head professional Kyle Quagliero was working at Medford Lakes Country Club at the time and had asked me if I was interested in working in service to golf.
Q: What is your favorite thing about caddying/working at your club?
A: My favorite thing about working at Medford Lakes is the relationships I’ve built and the family feel while I am at work.
Q: What are your long-term goals? (5–10 years)
A: My goals are to establish myself in medical device sales, be financially successful, travel, and build a life that I enjoy.
Q: What is something that happened to you while working at your club that you will never forget?
A: Every year the member guest is such a memorable event for both the staff and the golfers. We all work so hard to have a successful event while also having fun and its so great to see it come together.
Q: What advice would you give your younger self?
A: I would tell my younger self to always be confident and never be afraid to talk to new people and you never know who can help you out later on in life.
Q: How has J. Wood Platt changed your life?
A: J. Wood Platt has changed my life by providing me with opportunities, support, and connections that have helped me grow both personally and professionally.

The J. Wood Platt Caddie Scholarship Trust was created in 1958 and is the charitable arm of GAP (Golf Association of Philadelphia). The J. Wood Platt Caddie Scholarship Trust’s mission is to financially aid and empower qualified caddies and those working in golf operations in the pursuit of higher education. Along with aiding caddies financially, J. Wood Platt’s EMPOWER program strengthens scholarship investment dollars by providing caddies with exceptional benefits and leadership training through access to the wide network of J. Wood Platt donors and alumni. To date, more than 4,200 young men and women have received $29 million in aid from the Trust.
