Bill & Barbara Walsh Distinguished Service Award

A J. Wood Platt Caddie Scholarship Trust Award to honor individuals who through their actions have exemplified outstanding and notable service and contribution to the Trust in honor of Bill and Barbara Walsh. The award acknowledges the person’s dedication to the educational advancement of caddie and service to golf scholarships.  

Nominations must be made in writing or by email and should include proper background of the nominee and justification for the nomination. Any individual may place a name in nomination. Nominations must be submitted through J. Wood Platt’s website. 

A nominee not selected will remain a nominee for two additional years at which time a re-nomination will be required for the individual to continue to be considered for the Award.

The J. Wood Platt Chairwoman will select a chairperson for the Selection Committee. The committee will consist of at least 3 and no more than 8 members in addition to the Chairperson. The Selection Committee will meet annually to discuss and provide appropriate candidates. A quorum will consist of no less than 3 members. The committee’s decision is to be ratified by the JWP Board of Trustees. The selection process is to be undertaken on a yearly basis, but the Selection Committee is not obligated to select a nominee each year. The nature of the award is to be very special and the fact that it is not automatically awarded annually should help create that exclusivity. The award is to be presented at the JWP Distinguished Service Award dinner.
