Kevin Ryan joins the J. Wood Platt Caddie Scholarship Trust as the Director of Alumni & Scholar Engagement.
Ryan comes to JWP after spending the past three years as a Senior Account Executive at Peergenics. Before that, Ryan spent six years as the Manager of Alumni Relations at St. Joseph’s Prep, where he is an alumnus.
At St. Joe’s Prep, he was responsible for running all alumni events, reunions and out of town events. He was in charge of the engagement side and getting alumni to come back to the school and engage with current students.
“Joining J. Wood Platt is really exciting,” Ryan, 35, of Conshohocken, Pa., said. “When I saw the opportunity, I thought it would be a perfect fit because of my background in Alumni Relations. I understand the importance of the role of caddies. I have plenty of friends who are part of Platt and I know how much weight Platt holds in the Philadelphia area. I felt it would be an awesome opportunity to join such a great organization that fits my skill set.”
Ryan was a caddie for eight years at Overbrook Golf Club and grew up in Bryn Mawr, Pa. He graduated from Penn State University with a degree in political science in 2012.
“We are excited to have Kevin join our JWP Team,” GAP Executive Director Mark Peterson said. “His history as a caddie and skill set developed at St. Joe’s Prep in Alumni Development will aid in goals of
expansion within scholar and alumni engagement.”
Ryan will focus on supporting and growing the EMPOWER Mentoring Program, as well as improving scholar and alumni engagement.
“I think there is a great opportunity to continue to grow Platt from an engagement standpoint,” Ryan said. “I believe one of the keys is to continue to bring back our alumni and get them engaged. Hopefully it will lead to more dollars but I understand not all alumni are able to give money but they can give their time, experience and skill set. I want to educate the current scholars that Platt is a lifetime membership and something that will benefit them past college. I am excited for this chance to help Platt grow and keep moving forward.”
