On December 20, 2025, nearly 300 members of the Platt community including scholars, donors, alumni, ambassadors, GAP leaders, and members of the J. Wood Platt Board of Trustees gathered at Philadelphia Country Club to celebrate the season and reflect on another impactful year at the annual J. Wood Platt Scholar Brunch.
The morning began with a warm welcome from Trustee Erik Strid, followed by remarks from Chairman Jeffrey Mitzak, who officially kicked off the program and shared reflections on the year and the continued growth of the Trust.
The program highlighted the Trust’s EMPOWER Program and the scholars’ ongoing commitment to service. This year, the Platt community proudly raised $2,500 in support of Cradles to Crayons, continuing a meaningful tradition of giving back.
Andrew Downs, Director of Education, then took the stage to introduce the 2025 Francis C. Poore Caddie of the Year Award. Chris Wright, Caddie Master at Llanerch Country Club, introduced this year’s honoree, Jack Ebert, recognizing his dedication, leadership, and service to the game.
The EMPOWER portion of the program concluded with the presentation of the 2025 EMPOWER Leadership Award from Kevin Ryan, the new Director of Scholar and Alumni Engagement, to Ronan Mulholland, honoring his outstanding contributions and commitment to the program.
The brunch concluded with closing remarks from Chairman Jeffrey Mitzak, who reflected on the strength of the Platt community and expressed gratitude to everyone who makes the Trust’s mission possible.
Thank you to all who joined us for this special celebration. We look forward to gathering again next year.
