On December 21, 2024, over 110 scholars and 140 Friends of the Trust—including donors, alumni, ambassadors, GAP Executive Committee members, and the JWP Board of Trustees—gathered at Aronimink Golf Club to celebrate the holiday season at the annual J. Wood Platt Scholar Brunch.
The day began with a warm welcome from Chairwoman Tina Gregor, followed by 2025 Chairman Jeffrey Mitzak, who kicked off the program. During the event, Bill Lynch, who has supported the Trust for over 20 years, was honored as he steps off the board.
The program then highlighted the Trust’s EMPOWER Program and the upcoming service project with Cradles to Crayons. Kevin Ryan, the new Director of Scholar and Alumni Engagement, shared plans for the scholars’ involvement in the service project, an announced $2,000 was raised for the Trust to donate to Cradles to Crayons.
Lindsay Myers then took the stage to present the 2024 EMPOWER Leadership Award to Francesca Bria, recognizing her outstanding contributions to the program. Executive Director Mark Peterson followed with remarks on the prestigious Francis C. Poore Caddie of the Year Award, introducing Chris McCardell of Lookaway Golf Club, who spoke about this year’s honoree, Gregory Gipe.
Andrew Downs, Director of Education, concluded the awards portion by presenting the Golden Bib Award to Yoan Zozikov.
The brunch concluded with reflections on transitions within the Trust. Mark Peterson celebrated Lindsay Myers’ contributions as she moves on from her role, and Tina Gregor was recognized for her accomplishments and leadership as she steps down as Chairwoman.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended! We look forward to celebrating with you again next year.
